Many of the items you acquire within the dungeon start in an unidentified state. These items will have a ‘?’ mark in their name, indicating that you do not know their official name or properties. However, you can still equip or use these items in their unidentified state.
To identify items, you will need a party member with the ‘Item Insight’ skill. Thieves and Sages start with ‘Item Insight’ from the beginning, and Ninjas can acquire it at the Thieves’ Guild.
Keep in mind that if the skill level is low, there is a higher chance of failing to identify items. If you cannot identify items due to a lack of skill, you can take them to the town’s item appraisal shop, where they will identify the items for a fee. Successful identification reveals information about the item’s properties, applicable character classes, and more.
Unwanted items can be sold at the item appraisal shop. However, you cannot sell unidentified items, so be sure to identify them beforehand. Sold items will be added to the inventory of weapon shops and item shops. If you acquire a rare weapon but have no party members who can equip it, don’t hesitate to sell it, as you can repurchase it later.
